Bill May founded Maton in 1946. The company grew from a small Melbourne workshop into an Australian guitar maker with a worldwide following.
Maton remains family owned and operated. Its acoustic instruments are handmade in Melbourne, with the maker's own approach to timber, construction and amplification.
